KELOWNA, BRITISH COLUMBIA, MARCH 27, 2020 – Safari Club International (SCI) is a well known world-wide not-for-profit organization of outdoors people whose primary missions are to protect the freedom to hunt and to promote wildlife conservation.  SCI has well over 50,000 members and 180 chapters in Canada, USA and from around the world.  Every member is absolutely passionate about hunting and wildlife conservation.  This presence is now here in the interior of British Columbia with a newly formed Chapter based out of the Kelowna area.

Since 2000, SCI Foundation has spent over $60 million for nearly 100 international projects in conservation, wildlife, education and humanitarian services.  One of Interior BC SCI’s goals is to bring some of those resources to British Columbia to assist with many of our failing ungulate populations in the form of research funding, habitat restoration and public education.  Interior BC SCI’s President Robin Unrau states, “We have an incredibly strong and dedicated board of life-long BC residents who want to see change and with the strong support of SCI Canada/International we are one step closer to bringing conservation back to the forefront of wildlife management”.  SCI’s Vice-President Ted Bocking further states, “It is our goal to reach out to other like-minded organizations and start forming strategic partnerships.  That way we can move forward as a single-voice of concerned BC Citizens who want to see responsible wildlife management for all of our wildlands”.

The group has identified multiple topics related to wildlife management in British Columbia that has over-time deteriorated our animal populations ( They are in the midst of developing 1, 3 and 5-year plans to address these issues both politically and via public-education.  Other priorities include youth, partnerships, lobbying and research/conservation projects.Top of Form
